For a short time this piece became a resting area on my desk for my various cups and mugs. Why shouldn’t it be a pedestal for my other work? Maybe more like this in the future… Thankfully I took this one on a photo shoot before it broke 📸 Love the interplay of light and shadow. I almost think it works better unfired. My obsession coming out of last school year ☁️ Unfortunately this one broke before I could get it fired. I wasn’t even sure I wanted to keep it at the time, but my gut reaction to the news showed me how much more I was attached to it than I th 👀 It’s easy to get lost in the hills and valleys. I love the close ups of this piece. It reminds me of a hike I did this summer along the independence pass in Colorado. When we reached the top of our hike and looked out, we could see mountain a Pretty happy with how he came out. I took a risk with the layered glazes and glaze inclusions but it did exactly what I was hoping it would do. There’s movement and flow to the glaze like waterfalls over a mountainside. It did slump a bit to Just a fraction of the glaze tests I did last semester. They look so pretty all lined up. Anyone need tiles for their bathroom?? This one was a fun one to make and glaze. The first picture shows the bisqued piece. The white rock like inclusions are actually sintered (low fired) glaze I added to the clay as I built the object. For other tests I incorporated small chunks of glaze into the clay. More testing! I've been mostly focused on functional glazes but this last semester I decided to try making non-functional special effect glazes - craters, crawls, metallics. I even combined some because why not ✨ I always have a lot of containers on hand filled with glaze tests. These food containers are perfect for a 100g batch.
